Tencent Agrees to Acquire ‘Clash of Clans’ Maker Supercell

Tencent Holdings has reached an agreement to buy Finnish mobile game maker Supercell Oy from SoftBank Group, people familiar with the matter said, in a deal that could turn the Chinese internet giant into a global videogame powerhouse.

Tencent has been in talks with SoftBank to buy the Japanese telecommunications firm’s majority stake in Supercell in a deal that could value the firm at more than $9 billion, The Wall Street Journal previously reported.

Tencent’s purchase of SoftBank’s stake in Supercell will occur in stages, the people said. Tencent is still in discussions with co-investors to join in the purchase of the Supercell stake from SoftBank, according to people familiar with the situation. China-focused fund manager Hillhouse Capital Group has been leading discussions to put together a consortium of investors to join with Tencent to buy part of the Supercell stake, the people said.

Because the purchase is occurring in stages, Tencent has sufficient funds to pay for the initial purchase, the people said. The Chinese internet giant is also planning to raise additional debt secured by Supercell’s assets to help cover some of the acquisition costs, they said.

Tencent and SoftBank are set to announce the deal later Tuesday, one of the people said.

Supercell was valued at roughly $5.25 billion last year, according to a person familiar with the matter. SoftBank first bought a 51% stake in the Finnish gaming company for $1.53 billion in 2013. Last year, SoftBank raised its stake to 73% but didn’t disclose the price of the transaction.

　　继先前买下《英雄联盟》开发商 Riot 剩余所有股权后，日前又传出中国腾讯有意自软件银行手中收购《部落冲突》开发商 Supercell 的消息；而今日官方发布正式声明指出，经与 Supercell 协商后，本公司全资拥有的财团已经同意透过买方（财团的全资附属公司）收购 Supercell 的大部分股权；而 Supercell 将继续以芬兰为总部， 且现有的管理层将维持独立运作。

　　董事会欣然宣布于 2016 年 6 月 21 日，经与 Supercell 协商后组成及现时由本公司全资拥有的财团已经同意透过买方（财团的全资附属公司）收购 Supercell 的大部分股权。 该交易的条款载于由软银联署公司 · 若干 Supercell 员工股东及 Supercell 的若干前员工（统称卖方）· Supercell· 本公司（作为担保人）及买方于 2016 年 6 月 21 日订立的有条件股份收购协议。 根据有条件股份收购协议的条款，买方将向卖方收购卖方之 Supercell 已归属证券，合共占最多约 84.3% 的 Supercell 证券。 总对价分三期支付，目前预计约为 86 亿美元。

China's Tencent buys 'Clash of Clans' maker Supercell for $8.6 billion

China's biggest gaming group Tencent Holdings is to buy a majority stake in 'Clash of Clans' mobile game maker Supercell from SoftBank Group Corp in a deal valued at roughly $8.6 billion.

The purchase will expand Tencent's interests overseas, as the Chinese video game and social network group still relies mainly on its home market even though it has stakes in various foreign studios like Epic Games and Riot Games.

Finnish mobile games maker Supercell will now have Tencent's backing as it pushes more aggressively into China's online gaming market. For Japanese internet and telecoms group SoftBank, the Tencent deal will mark its third major asset reshuffle in the past month.

Tencent will acquire about 84.3 percent of Supercell via a wholly-owned consortium, including all of SoftBank's 72.2 percent stake, it said on Tuesday. The sale is one of the world's biggest ever gaming deals.

The consortium will open up to co-investors, though Tencent expects to maintain a 50 percent voting interest, it said.

Supercell, also creator of 'Boom Beach' and 'Hay Day', has a handful of successful games and gets revenue from in-game purchases, helping it to avoid the problems faced by the likes of rival Rovio Entertainment, which has failed to create a new hit game since its 2009 launch of Angry Birds.

　　动视公布了新《捉鬼敢死队》游戏版的终极套装（Ghostbusters Ultimate Bundle）。该套装售价65美元，其中不但含有额外的服装DLC等数字内容之外，还包含新版《捉鬼敢死队》电影的数字版兑换码一份。这一套装将以数字版的形式登陆PSN商店和部分地区的Xbox Live商店。

　　官方将《捉鬼敢死队》游戏定义为第三人称动作RPG，本作支持最多四名玩家的本地或在线联机合作通关。

Featuring character design by Afro Samurai creator Takashi Okazaki and a killer soundtrack from well-known electro bands Carpenter Brut, Danger and more, Furi’s heart-pumping boss battles will challenge gamers’ will with skill-based hand-to-hand and gun-battle combat.

Furi is fast-paced, and requires great timing, reflexes and judgment. With immediately responsive controls, players must attack and counter, finding the right strategy for each boss they confront. Getting rid of immortals is seemingly impossible, yet that is your mission in Death's Gambit.

In this trailer we show just some of the different immortal bosses that you encounter. Our goal from the start was to make each boss have unique abilities that stand out from everything else in the game. We also wanted to give the player a large arsenal of weapons and abilities to tackle them. It is up to you to discover the best strategies and character build.

Although immortal characters and bosses can be defeated, they come back to life. You don't ever have to fight the bosses again but it may still be worth your time since they might drop different items depending how you defeat them. On the other hand you will also encounter mortal characters and friends along the way. Figuring out who is mortal and who isn't will affect the story. Wouldn't want to anger the wrong immortal right?
